Gate of Time: Tortuga presents a promising pirate adventure with a time-travel twist, but the execution falls somewhat short of the potential. The set is nicely built, with a good effort to transport players into the world of pirates and ancient mysteries, though it sometimes feels more decorative than immersive.
The puzzles are numerous, but not all of them land well. While a few moments stood out for creativity, others felt disconnected from the theme or overly convoluted. The overall flow of the game lacked rhythm- we frequently found ourselves stopping and starting rather than staying in a steady groove.
Narratively, the time-travel concept is introduced but not fully explored or explained, which makes the storyline feel more like a backdrop than something we are actively part of. A bit more clarity or storytelling integration could go a long way in elevating the experience.
In terms of gameplay, Tortuga sits somewhere in the middle- not bad, but not exceptional. Enthusiasts may appreciate the effort put into variety and detail, but casual players might find it underwhelming.
A decent room with solid visuals and a fun concept, but the game could benefit from stronger puzzle integration and a more coherent narrative to truly stand out. Worth a visit if you enjoy the theme, but don’t expect a top-tier experience.
Also, it’s getting harder and harder to play dark rooms, and this was one of those.
