We played The Old Toy Store very late in the evening, and we were absolutely exhausted by the time we started. That, combined with the atmosphere of the room, definitely heightened the experience- it remains one of the very few rooms where we completely forgot to take a post-game picture, which says a lot about the intensity and immersion we felt.

Back then, we were genuinely scared. If I had to play this room today, after having more creepy rooms under my belt, I know I’d enjoy it even more. The atmosphere was incredibly tense. There’s a live actor involved, and even though she moved slowly, just walking around with a lantern, we were completely frozen in the dark, unsure of what would happen next. That level of immersion is hard to forget.

The story centers around an old toy store and a little girl whose presence haunts the space. The narrative unfolds in a way that pulls you deeper into a forgotten, eerie world of childhood innocence turned unsettling. It’s subtly emotional, layered with mystery, and rich in tone.

From a puzzle perspective, it was a very enjoyable room. The emblematic dice puzzle stands out as a highlight. At the same time, the space was true to its theme-dusty, cluttered, and chaotic, just like an abandoned toy shop should be. But that also meant many useful elements were hidden or buried under tons of toys, and we often couldn’t tell what was relevant. It added to the challenge, though at times it bordered on frustrating.

Still, looking back, The Old Toy Store was a memorable experience-moody, unsettling, and deeply atmospheric. It’s a great choice for anyone who appreciates immersive horror with thoughtful puzzles and a haunting story. Just don’t play it at midnight after a long day like we did. Or do for the full effect.
