Playing a Christmas-themed escape room in the middle of summer is already hilarious on its own, but Silent Night managed to deliver way more than just seasonal irony. The storyline involves traveling into the past to mend a child’s Christmas experience, with the added challenge of confronting the menacing Krampus. The room was absolutely packed with puzzles, and despite the festive setting, there were a few surprisingly creepy moments that we actually enjoyed. It added an unexpected twist to what we assumed would be a light-hearted game.
The puzzle design was impressive-thematic, diverse, and often surprising. We encountered challenges we had never seen before, which is rare and always appreciated. They ranged from fairly straightforward to genuinely complex, and we definitely needed a hint or two along the way. The sheer number of puzzles kept us constantly moving and thinking, and finishing the game in 70 minutes felt like a Christmas miracle in itself.
That said, one puzzle involving windows on a ginger house left a bit of a bad taste, maybe due to unclear logic or poor execution, but that was the only real misstep in an otherwise great experience.
All in all, Silent Night is a surprisingly rich and dynamic escape room, and a solid recommendation – whether you’re chasing holiday cheer or just a room with tons to do. Just prepare to laugh a little at yourself playing Christmas tunes in shorts and sandals.
