We only played two rooms during our short stay in Bratislava, as the main purpose of the trip was attending Nova Rock. So there’s no real point in ranking the escape rooms here-but out of the two, Lost Archaeologist was definitely the one we enjoyed more.

The story puts you in the role of explorers sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a renowned archaeologist. His last known location was deep inside an ancient tomb, and your goal is to uncover the secrets he was chasing- and maybe even find him. The game plays heavily on the classic Indiana Jones vibe, with tomb raiding, hidden mechanisms, and of course, ancient hieroglyphs.

Everything was going relatively well… until we hit that puzzle- the one with the hieroglyphs on the wall. It became a pitfall that we just spiraled down into. Every logical approach we tried made less sense than the previous one. After 15 minutes of counting shapes, colors, matching symbols, and trying every far-fetched theory we could come up with, we gave in and asked for a hint. Unfortunately, even the hint didn’t clear things up right away- we needed a lot of explanation before we could finally move forward. So be warned: this room does require a bit of math and a lot of patience.

That said, the game masters here were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and that stood out even more because our experience at Questum was the opposite. The game master there was arrogant and made no real effort to create a good atmosphere or support the experience.

Despite that one frustrating moment with the puzzle, Lost Archaeologist was a solid room. The environment matched the theme well, and most of the puzzles were enjoyable and logical. It’s not a game-changer, but for a spontaneous visit around a festival schedule, it was a fun adventure-and definitely the better of the two we tried in Bratislava.
