The second room at Quest Siberia performed much better than 1408. In my personal opinion, this is due to the multiple spaces contributing to a more linear gameplay.

Let’s start with the things that made an unpleasant impression on me. First, entering the room, which, let’s say, is underground, the smell of a dirty sewer was appalling. I don’t know what caused it; I asked other people who visited the room if they had similar experiences, and I received a negative answer. Hopefully, it was an unrelated episode. Second, one of the first puzzles that unlocks the way forward has no feedback, none whatsoever. We solved it, but we didn’t understand if we had solved it or not, and only after the operator told us we could continue did we stop fumbling around, and AGAIN, we didn’t find the path immediately. Please shed some light on that solution! Finally, it might be a personal preference, but, for example, the Mines of Moria have a warning on the website that crawling is mandatory in the room. Here, I came after work in my official pants and had to decide whether to continue with the team and ruin my clothes or stay at the beginning. Add a line in the email after the reservation “come in comfortable clothes, you’ll have to crawl, there’s duck walking,” give us a head up.

Now, the positive things. The gameplay is actually very pleasant. There is a feeling that you are actually entering a pyramid. The culmination is in the burial chamber, which, let’s admit, is quite cool. Again, it is seen that no efforts and resources were spared to achieve the wow effect; there are lasers, and there is smoke. Two or three puzzles can be slightly modified, to have a connection, but even that way, the room is playable. The ending was a bit unclear; we had to make a choice, but we didn’t understand exactly how. If, in the end, the option is added, for example, to leave everything we found on a scale or an altar, as a clear gesture of our decision, it would be wonderful.

I see that teams Lemon and Escapees, extremely experienced and serious teams, will participate in the tournament organized in the rooms of Siberia in a few days. Please, after the tournament, take the time to talk to them and note what they have to say; I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
