When researching a market, we always follow the same steps—talking with local enthusiasts, checking national and international rankings and websites. And yet, to this day, I have no idea why Evadat Escape Rooms hadn’t made it onto our radar earlier. Their games barely showed up in discussions or listings. But on the last day of our trip, we decided to take a chance and give them a try. Boy, am I glad we did.

In Excalibur, we stepped into the roles of archaeologists exploring King Arthur’s legendary castle in Camelot. The story sets the stage beautifully: the Round Table, a test of worthiness, and the ultimate mission to retrieve the mythical sword, guided by the great wizard Merlin. From the beginning, the narrative pulls you in, and the environment delivers on every promise.

We had a slow start—missing a key element that stalled our momentum—but once we figured it out, everything clicked into place. It was one of those magical moments where the game felt like it was made for us. Just three of us, but the synergy was perfect. Tight communication, instinctive puzzle-solving, and an almost eerie sense of what needed to be done next. Boom—solved. Boom—move on. We were unstoppable.

The final room delivered everything you’d hope for from Arthur’s castle: majestic weapons, shining shields, a grand round table, stained glass windows—every detail carefully crafted to immerse you in medieval England. The attention to detail was exceptional.

I later learned they had to remove a water element, which wasn’t a technical bug but rather a practical decision. It’s a shame because once I understood what the original idea was, it could’ve added a jaw-dropping moment to an already impressive room. Still, even without it, the experience was memorable and thoroughly enjoyable.

Verdict: Excalibur is a gem that deserves far more recognition than it gets. Don’t overlook Evadat when you’re in Bucharest—they’re doing something special here.
