Yes, we brought baby Maddie with us.
Yes, she’s just a few months old.
Yes, she’s absolutely adorable.
And yes, we escaped.
This visit was part of my personal mission to explore how some of the longest-standing escape rooms, those we played 8 to 10 years ago and that are still operating, have aged and evolved over time. It’s easy to have fond memories of a room from the early days, but if we’re going to continue recommending it, we need to be sure it still holds up. So here we are, revisiting Kryptos eight years later.
Back then, this was one of my absolute favorites, and I even wrote a lengthy review praising its design and experience. I’m happy to report that nothing has changed- in fact, it may have gotten even better. The room is in meticulous technical condition. Everything functions flawlessly, and you wouldn’t guess how many teams pass through here every week.
There are even a few new puzzles thoughtfully integrated into the experience, clearly added to smooth out previous flow issues. I couldn’t recall the older versions in detail, but these additions felt organic and welcome. The lobby still impresses, the gameplay remains mesmerizing, and the story is just as compelling as I remembered.
So, if Kryptos has somehow slipped past you over the last few years, it’s time to fix that. It’s a rare example of a room that not only withstands the test of time but continues to shine.
