One who plays will win (in Bulgaria, a famous quote by Hristo Stoychkov) 🙂
We hadn’t played physically in an escape room for exactly 11 months. Unfortunately, the pandemic disrupted our plans to travel abroad, and logically, our escape room business in Bulgaria suffered. Thanks to Ivan, who informed me about a new room in Sofia, we dove into a tale of cartels, Pablo Escobar, and millions of dollars.
It turned out quite strange that within two weeks, we played two new rooms in Sofia (the other one being “Who Killed Franz Schmid“). In both, we had similar experiences. In the beginning, the initial space we entered (cramped and very warm in both cases), we spent a lot of time struggling with a relatively easy puzzle. Then, later, we skipped some puzzles (because we could) and eventually escaped. Generally, this would hinder my room evaluation, but in the case of El Patron, despite being a bit surprised, we understood we had skipped something while progressing, but it didn’t bother us. Who else but Fury can outsmart the cartel?
Without unnecessarily spoiling, I’ll say that there are puzzles that are not the easiest. Some visual elements need enhancement, some elements need securing (they know what I’m talking about, to prevent more determined teams from skipping puzzles). Please make a decision about the puzzle in the first room; I don’t know if you’ll return to your original idea or apply a completely new one, but right now, it’s a bit confusing.
Probably, for Narcos fans, the room will offer an even more intense experience. Unfortunately, I couldn’t emotionally connect with the theme, for which I’m solely to blame.
With a little tweaking here and there, the room will be worth dedicating an hour to, as I did with the help of our wonderful hosts, with a stack of dollars featuring Pablo’s face (I carefully placed it under the mattress at home). It still boggles my mind that they printed 15 million 🤫
P.S. They’ll welcome you with tequila shots. It’s not a trap 😂
P.P.S. Thank you for bringing back the joy of escape rooms. Online is cool, but it’s not the same…
