I had absolutely no idea what Maurluk meant before stepping into this room, and to be honest, I still don’t fully know. What I do know is: we had fun.
Escape Mania delivered a room that was colorful, chaotic, and unlike anything else we played on this trip. The game leans heavily into humor and absurdity, almost like a fever dream built from a blend of Balkan folklore, retro cartoon aesthetics, and slapstick comedy. From the first puzzle, you understand that this room doesn’t take itself too seriously—and that’s exactly what makes it work.
The story is loosely based on The Hangover movie and if you liked the movie, you cane expect everything, tigers, memory lost, drugs and chaos.
We were laughing a lot. Not because the puzzles were funny per se, but because the whole setup, the characters, the voiceovers, and the unexpected twists just created a vibe. You don’t solve your way through Maurluk as much as you ride the wave. It’s immersive in its own weird way, and very clearly designed with creativity and passion.
Mechanically, the room runs smoothly, with solid puzzle flow. It’s not overly difficult, but it keeps you on your toes, especially because some of the interactions are intentionally strange or unconventional.
Maurluk is not your typical escape room. It’s bold and weird.
