Moriarty sp. z o.o. offers a well-crafted escape room experience that draws you into the shadowy world of Sherlock Holmes’ most infamous adversary. The game is built around a compelling narrative: with Holmes on the brink of exposing his secret operations, Professor Moriarty is seeking discreet and capable operatives- people who can infiltrate, solve, and outsmart- to help turn the tide in his favor.

While the Sherlock Holmes theme is widely used in the escape room industry, I have yet to encounter a truly exceptional game that elevates it beyond clichés. Most tend to rely on the same tropes and predictable setups, missing the depth and intrigue the theme could offer. As a long-time fan of Doyles’ iconic characters, I believe this universe deserves a high-budget, high-quality adaptation that captures its intellectual and dramatic potential. Unfortunately, few rooms take it to that level.

That said, Moriarty sp. z o.o. does a commendable job of pushing the narrative forward with smart transitions, clever spatial design, and a few surprises-like unexpectedly moving underground, which added a great sense of scale and immersion. The hiding of entrances and exits is particularly well-executed, maintaining the illusion and keeping us engaged.

Puzzle-wise, the difficulty was moderate, with most tasks flowing smoothly. One puzzle had us completely stuck- we wasted nearly ten minutes on it before finally caving and asking for a hint, only to discover we’d simply missed a visible clue (a humbling moment). Despite this, the puzzle integration felt cohesive and stayed true to the story’s tone.

Moriarty sp. z o.o. is a strong contender in a genre saturated with mediocre interpretations. While it doesn’t quite reach the level of “definitive Sherlock experience,” it certainly raises the bar and is worth visiting-especially for those who want to dip into Holmes’ world without the tired clichés.

P.S. As you can see, the boys had fun!
