You don’t often come across escape rooms themed around Yugoslavia—especially not ones that embrace it in such a nostalgic, humorous way. Tavern Yugoslavia is a tribute to a different era: the smell of rakija, red tiles, socialist slogans, and old-school fun. This is not a fancy room with flashy tech or high-budget theatrics, but one built with love and a sharp eye for cultural detail.Maybe because we are Balcans as well, we fit right in.
We walked into a tavern straight from the ‘70s or ‘80s. Everything felt authentic—like visiting your grandpa’s village bar, if your grandpa had a tendency to lock you in and throw puzzles at you. The creators took a quirky theme and committed to it fully. The result is a game full of charm and character.
The puzzles themselves were not the hardest we’ve seen, but they were well-integrated into the environment. Everything made sense in the world they created, from vintage radios to hand-written notes. And while this won’t be the room that blows your mind with innovation, it will probably be the one you remember with a smile.
This is the kind of escape room you want to bring your local friends to—especially those who lived through some of that history. It’s a love letter to a very specific time and place, delivered with humor and a touch of chaos.
Final Thoughts: Simple, nostalgic, and hilariously local. If you’re in Belgrade and looking for something different from the usual horror or adventure themes, Tavern Yugoslavia is a charming detour.
P.S. The game master is with you in the room, acting as a hint system and a bartender (they actually serve drinks). You can also smoke inside 🤪
