Magic Mirrors (Game duration 60 minutes)

Fury team: Ivan Minchev, Jordan Dayanov, and Nadezhda Danabasheva

Date: May 13, 2024

Fury team time: 43:53 minutes

This is where our day took a turn for the worse—and no, not because of the games. We lost two people from the team along the way, as we were unfortunate enough to lock our keys in the car. Being foreigners traveling abroad, and with the car being brand new, we ended up spending nearly two hours calling people in the UK and Bulgaria, trying to figure out what to do. One phone call to a friend and €200 later, a guy showed up and unlocked the car in four minutes. That’s all you need to know about the current state of the car industry’s so-called “security” features. Even the officials we spoke with on the phone warned us it would be “doomsday” if we called anyone else—they said it could compromise the car. Spoiler: nothing of the sort happened.

So, with a smaller team, we arrived (very late) and apologized profusely to the game master. She had come specifically to open the game for us at the last minute, and it was a real pity she had to wait so long. This also forced us to change our schedule for later—but that’s another story.

Magic Mirrors summoned us to assist a powerful sorceress, the Archmage, in reuniting the pieces of a shattered magical amulet. This artifact, once whole, held immense power, but was split during a rivalry between two mages. The Archmage uses her half for enlightenment, while the other half is being wielded for dark purposes. Our mission was to find the missing half and restore the amulet’s power before it was too late. And we did! The “trick” the creators used at the end, when we restored the amulet, was genuinely impressive.

I loved this room. I know it’s not on most people’s radar, but it was logical, surprising, a very smart use of space, and featured impressive decor. After the stress with the car, we really needed some positive energy—and let me tell you, even now, if I close my eyes, I can still picture us performing the ritual, holding skulls and artifacts, and chanting in Latin. It was hilarious then, and it’s still hilarious now.

We need more good-vibe rooms like this one.
